Timber Frame Home at Chirnside, UK
case study
The site of an old mansion with its mature trees and peaceful outlook provided an idyllic and established setting for a new low maintenance home with a character echoing local traditions. The brief was to replace the original ruined house with a large comfortable home which would bring the benefits of modern convenience and high insulation, yet include traditional Scottish features. The ground floor consists of kitchen, dining and living rooms, a study, conservatory and an en-suite bedroom. Three further bedrooms can be found on the first floor (one en-suite), a bathroom and a fabulous gallery area at the top of the staircase. Total area 3200 sq.ft.house.
